Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the celebrity rabbi/moral huckster and the Jewish answer to prosperity preachers, has in my estimation jumped the shark as a morally relevant commentator with a recent blog on the Huffington Post critiquing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s bold decision to lower the flags to half mast this coming Saturday during the service for the former Newark native, and local treasure, Whitney Houston. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is plain wrong. His ill timed commentary exhibits only his own moral irrelevance as a spiritual man relative to the moral clarity of a suited man, who happens to sit in New Jersey Governor’s office, on top of a big pair of balls no less. After removing his lips from Governor Chris Christie’s tuchis in an opening homage on the Huffpo extoling the overall character of his leadership, the cowardly rabbi engaged in some divisive word play and pseudo intellectual mishagas in stating:

But much as I admire our great governor, I’m not with him on flying flags at half-staff for Whitney Houston. Now let me be clear. The issue is not the biggest deal and I don’t want to make too much of it. We Americans have far greater problems to address right now. Moreover, I regard the untimely death of the pop diva as a terrible and sorrowful blow. Whitney Houston’s death is an American tragedy and she should be rightly mourned.

But flags at half-staff should be reserved principally for those who have made great sacrifices in the pursuit of selfless, patriotic service. Our celebrities get plenty of attention. Our soldiers barely get any at all. We mostly pay lip service to our support of the troops. Don’t believe me? Rabbi Shmuley’s rationale rings hollow, insincere and disrespectful of the New Jersey Governor’s decision and clearly expressed reasons for honoring Whitney Houston. A truly spiritual man might have considered how his words may have been taken by the membership of The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where Ms. Houston first sang but by also her family. If Whitney were a prominent Jew would the rabbi have issued a different opinion or insulted her family while they were sitting Shiva or restrained himself entirely? Oh yes, these surely are indeed interesting times, challenging times for many. Accordingly, soldiers are not the only ones who deserve our honor. New Jersey fortunately has quite capable men in charge as Governor and as the Mayor of its largest city. Newark, New Jersey, is undergoing a renaissance under Mayor Corey Booker’s leadership. Most of thew news emanating from Newark these days, even during one of the most challenging economic periods in American history, has been largely positive. For too long, this area, much like the decline of Detroit, perhaps more so, was a symbol or urban blight and decay. The few folks who emerged to local or national prominence from this region, did so while overcoming tremendous odds.

As for me, I judge not anyone else’s pain or suffering, the basis therefor or how they got there. For the many who suffer in public, there are countless others in our lives who suffer alone. Many turn to addiction sadly. It is a reality of modern life. And for those who have more resources and access, only greater ability to destroy god’s gifts bestowed on them. Is this perhaps the rationale for his verbal mishagas in trying out the right wing cliche about ‘honoring the troops.’ Are those who go through the journey of the dark night of the soul and meet their maker sooner than expected somehow less worthy or honor or dignity? Houston was in effect gunned down on the battle field of life. Would she be more worthy of dignity had she died in an unrighteous war? Whitney Houston’s unfortunate and untimely death and Chris Christie’s courageous and righteous decision to honor a woman who was arose from humble gospel singing Newark roots to international prominence, was not only bold and brave but also quite righteous. In providing her a final dignity in her home state, Chris Christie has in effect served as Whitney Houston’s final bodyguard on her way out of our lives. Voters have long memories. I suspect that many, regardless of their political affiliation will remember this decision. As for Shmuley, all I can say is that I know of very few spiritual leaders who walk the red carpet at black tie events and who find the need to comment in the celebrity section of magazines, periodicals and webzines and who promote themselves so aggressively and then take time to write a blog questioning a decision to honor a local hero on the eve of her funeral service. He should thank the culture of celebrity, which he is a part of, which continues to provide a platform for him to air his commentary. Her dreams fulfilled, the social anti-Christ with a plastic surgeon on speed dial (in case a piece of her head or face should crack or fall off), stated a desire to “assist others in the achievement of theirs”, referring to the American Dream. Having born witness to the social fraudster’s outlining her perversion of the American Dream and then listening further to her desire to infect more souls with the venomous values of an opportunistic fame crazed social pariah, literally caused vomit to rise up from the bottom of my stomach. That the utterly craptacular Devorah Rose is yet again provided a platform to air her barren and fraudulent social mishagas on unsuspecting souls is a true cause for concern but not surprise. With America at the crossroads in 2012 the Cakes and Circuses culture of distraction is in high gear. The beast is looking still to push up more ass clowns, misfits and social jesters to occupy the national stage. Devorah Rose has been at this game for the better part of a decade, seemingly to the exclusion of all else. I do not want to rain on Miss Rose’s parade, but last I checked, however, Horatio Alger was not a Jappy Bitch with a plastic surgery addiction who grew up the daughter of a physician, attending exclusive schools and shopping at the Chestnut Hill Mall, while posing as a disenfranchised minority. With all her talk about Plano, Texas, Guatemalans and Venezuela, I do not know if she is looking to reprise Jennifer Lopez’s roles in ‘Maid in Manhattan’, Selena, both or trying to take advantage of the caricature of all latins as somehow less civilized and poor. I do believe that Miss Rose is employing racist undertones to make her cause more sympathetic and to insulate her vapid agenda from legitimate critique.
Nevertheless, the self appointed Horatio Alger does it all while postulating how she hopes to share her values and success with other like minded folks to give them similar opportunities and maybe a leg up. In the interim the sage VC may take a seat on the Board of Directors of a young company or assume an advisory or consulting role to provide sage wisdom and advice to fresh entrepreneurs. Venture capitalism is like planting the seeds or meticulously watering a garden and nourishing your plants with the type of vitamins, water and sunlight to help them grow. Vulture capitalism is the predatory process of tearing apart vulnerable going concerns, whose ultimate fate is less certain. Vulture Capitalism is a term of art which rather aptly describes the predatory feeding on the economic carcass of manufacturing concern for the sole purpose of lining a predator’s wallet.
The BAIN way was dishonest and duplicitous, about playing both sides of the fence. Having seen the film When Mitt Romney Came to Town, I can attest that it is accurate and a shame that this is what many of the best and brightest are recruited to do out of the Ivy League, etc. We need to reconsider what we as a society value. Government policies and business practices that shrink the middle class and contribute to the concentration of wealth into the hands of a few is not in our long term interest. The dirty little secret is that government policy determines who the winners and losers are and without favorable government policies, there would be far fewer fortunes from activities like this.
An insightful business man knows not to squeeze his customer to the point where they can no longer afford your product and by contributing to the destruction of the middle class, that is exactly what you have done. Yes, one has to be efficient in the global marketplace, which in my book means aligning your interests, shared sacrifice and not giving up your principles.
As a CEO, I know what it’s like to take a small company and grow it to one of the largest in its industry, as a general partner of a private equity firm we made numerous investments and as someone who considered working for Bain Capital (I declined) out of Harvard, I feel qualified to voice this opinion. We are better that this and what we do has to be about more than just being selfish. America has created the greatest economy & the benchmark for a society with values for the rest of the world. REPUBLICAN ELITE DISMISS CHRISTIAN VALUES & EMBRACE MORMON BRAND

Newt Gingrich is rather effectively making the argument that there is a place for morality and decency in a free-market system; a Christian theme actually. But unfortunately, any critical discussion of predatory capitalism or the substantial income and wealth inequality in America brought about by deceptive tactics that have created a rigged game, has crushed the fortunes of many American families, is sadly considered unacceptable by the establishment elites of his party. Proponents of the 1% Economy promote efficiency by any means necessary, without regulation, and without regard to any kind of equity or stability in society. Those who call for more reasonable measures are labeled communist, socialist and/or un-American.
A Mormon High Priest who made his living as a vulture capitalist or predatory corporate raider in schemes embracing the gospel of ‘creative destruction’ that deindustrialized the United States of America, crippled vulnerable companies, cleaned out their pensions, left barren wide swaths of this nation’s industrial heartland, his countrymen broke and homeless, is the anointed one. Whatever is at the core of Romney, it is certainly not the soul of a builder, a nurturer or venture capitalist but rather a fraudulent political opportunist and a financial predator, the Mormon Madoff. This is very much in essence the kind of man that the financial oligarchs in America want on their side, especially on the heels of America’s financial collapse. Romney is a ‘High Priest’ in the spiritual Ponzi Scheme which is the LDS Cult, but the media rarely discusses that. Instead, constantly makes you aware of the ominous powerful Christian evangelicals.
The media and Republican establishment elites (‘RNC’) are working in effect to dilute the influence, standing and clout of of Christian leaders in favor of fraudulent belief systems like that of the LDS Cult because their leadership is hungry for money, power and influence above all else, hence more willing to compromise. Whereas Jesus himself threw the money-changers out of the temple, Republican establishment elites have allowed them to take over their party.
The Plutocracy has embraced the Mormon High Priest and his followers because the moral underpinning’s of Christianity and Christian leaders, as well as certain other faiths, pose a check on predatory capitalism, excessive wealth concentration and total exploitation of citizens. The Financial Oligarchy wants to operate free of ethics or responsibility for the humanity of their countrymen. The Republican establishment and the financial interests behind the party may very well want Christian votes but they don’t want any [Christian] morality or values of equity, fairness and honesty interjected into their Capitalism. Mormons offer what Christians won’t; the cover of spirituality but the liberty from judgment for systems which create divisions and disparity in our society. It would seem that ‘We Can No Longer Afford Vulture Capitalism.’ Am I not my brother’s keeper?
Let’s see how that plays out for them in the Fall of 2012.

Her pseudo feminist mishegas directed towards womankind in a rant to the NY Post reeks with all the sincerity of a grifter fleecing her prey and her call to protection of other similarly afflicted female victims, with all the coherence of a drunkard saying “I love you man.” Women who scream abuse or cry wolf as part of their own famegame but who have suffered no damages or actual abuse undermine women who are real victims. Somehow, I highly doubt that Gloria Allred even wants to jump into the mix on this one. Yes, it is that ridiculous.
The photo ilustrates nothing…..
As a photographer and a lawyer and one who has seen up close and personal Ms. Rose’s antics, in my opinion, the image tweeted by Ms. Rose illustrates nothing. It hardly looks like that representative or indicative of some massive romance, deeply formed alliance or any kind of significant intimate relationship between her and the world famous author of the Satanic Verses. It instead looks like that of one taken by a fan or brazen fame ball/stalker for her scrapbook or tool in her ongoing social climb.
As stated to me by an acquaintance who has withdrawn from New York Social circles because she has moved on to a more important segment of her life called adulthood: “It never ceases to amaze me the lengths these people will go for ’status’ in the make-believe construct of their social microcosm.”
Men of means and accomplishment are on notice that this type of Dangerous Beauty with a narcissistic personality disorder worships only at the alter of fame. She will sell you out at hello. Devorah tweeted that picture of her and Rushdie because in her mind, it made her ‘relevant’. And by relevant I mean that a man of means, intellect and literary accomplishment chose to have this charlatan in his company, however briefly.
Tweeting that photo was a marketing and publicity maneuver and not indicative of behavior becoming a lady or a woman sincerely interested in a meaningful involvement with a man of substance. Emily Post would certainly not approve of this course of conduct. Given that she is a woman of literally no meaningful accomplishment but a semi nude spread of her surgically sculpted and lipo-suctioned frame having appeared in the pages of Maxim in a spread that seems more appealing to necrophiliacs, pedophile and fans of Anorexia, one should not be surprised that Mr. Rushdie had little interest in an ‘intellectual relationship’ with someone whose apparent social currency was fame for no reason and nude profile resembling a concentration camp victim. It shocks me that she could have even briefly made him horny. But that is besides the point.
Devorah Rose: Another Cog in the Wheel of the Culture of Distraction
Whether this is yet another case of ‘Men Behaving Badly’ or a pervy old man misreading the intent of a woman who flaunts her nudity online with the brazen hustle of a street walker is not so relevant. That he chose to walk away from her is not abusive to Ms. Rose as much as it was likely motivated to preserve whatever remained of his integrity as well as coming to the realization that he was being used. Hence, if he was looking for ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ he should have paid by the hour rather than tangled with an unrelenting fame monster who simply would not stop trading off the one photo of them together.
“As the economy unravels further and we head into a global worldwide ‘Depression,’ the relative significance of who and what is important on New York’s party circuit will matter far less. As far more folks find themselves living less glamorous lives, our willingness to celebrate the petulant indulgences of others will dissipate. Perhaps then fame will become based more on some substantive and real set of values and accomplishments rather than doing coke at Bungalow 8 or merely staying out too late at parties at high-end boutiques.”
That Miss Rose continues to be given a platform proves only that the culture of distraction continues to call upon its loyal servants for more tomfoolery at the expense of enlightenment of our citizenry.
Most who met her between 2005 -2010 do not recognize her in these images on Maxim. Upon closer examination of the images of Devorah Rose in Maxim, Facebook and Twitter, what I see is not an attractive, sexually desirable woman but something that is disturbing. The images are a cross between a concentration camp victim and a vampire who is but one procedure away from looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein. What was not removed with a plastic surgeon’s scalpel or sucked out via liposuction, enhanced via breast implants or collagen injections was photo shopped or air brushed to reveal a feminine creature that is a turn on only for necrophiliacs or pedophiles.

Devorah Rose has in the words of Bud Fox in Wall Street “bagged the elephant”. The Frankenstein Fame Monster created in part by the distraction culture media machine, anorexia and plastic surgery found herself on the front page of the New York Post twice in one week. The question is, however, has Devorah Rose peaked? Where does she go from here? Appearing on the front page of the world’s leading tabloid media, a woman of literally no meaningful accomplishment involved in a media scandal involving one of the most well known authors of our time, is the highest heights for a Social Parasite.
Dangerous Beauty Poses as Victim

Ms. Rose’s Achilles’ heal is that she is a bona fide Social Parasite. Anyone who has literally gone through the level of personal reconstruction as Ms. Rose has serious self esteem issues. She has attempted to redefine herself to the world at large through cosmetic makeovers and revisionist history of her lineage. Miss Rose has few people who believe a single, solitary word that flows from her fake lips. She has some Nerve. Despite her assertions in the Sunday New York Post cover article, Mr. Rushdie has not used anything against her or about her that is not already in the public domain, that is unless you believe that there is a massive media conspiracy against her involving the NY Times, The Observer, NY Magazine, Gawker, Scallywag & Vagabond, City File et. al etc. Her posture in all this actually reeks with all the sincerity of a social grifter fleecing her mark.
While some may commend the upstart Jewish socialite for her persistence in garnering time in the spotlight without any noteworthy accomplishments, men of means and accomplishment are now on notice that a scheming Forrest Gump with a penchant for appearing in the right place at the right time to garner media attention, may be one of the most annoying and dangerous personages for any such man to cross paths with in this town. Simply put, she will sell you out at hello.

This may sound particularly harsh but its true. Miss Devorah Rose is not a compelling natural beauty. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And in my estimation, whatever beauty has been crafted and is visually appealing comes undone by a narcissistic personality disorder. What I often witnessed covering Social Life Magazine parties was her narcissism taking over. Her posture insisted that the camera focused on her and whatever celebrity she was able to wrangle to pose on the red carpet at the Social Life Estate. Absent her control, the camera might focus on the female beauty or girl next door professional women who often in abundance as either share house time share guests or invitees to the Social Life Estate but who were lesser photographed and often did not appear in any press clippings. Nevertheless, these were the women actually often surrounded by men. Rose did not garner similar attention.
Not a Victim: He’s Just Not That Into You.
The Satanic Verses author and former spouse of Padma Lakshmi has undoubtedly already suffered sufficient shame for not recognizing more easily the dangerous beauty of Devorah Rose. Her semi-nude persona appealed to him on some level. Despite Ms. Rose’s alleged interest in an “intellectual relationship”, fact is he did not see that as a possibility. Who could argue with that? Despite her Columbia University pedigree she is simply one of the most vapid people I have encountered on the New York social scene, and trust me that is saying a lot. Mr. Rushdie, were he in need of that type of companionship, or even wanted The Girlfriend Experience, simply should have paid by the hour. It would have been cheaper.
The love of my college years once famously told me, ‘Only time can tell what the future holds in store for us.’ She is no longer in my life. Rushdie, like most of us is likely sincerely hoping that her 15 Minutes are finally up rather than only beginning. Some may hope that this type of ‘fame crazed reality star’ takes a nose dive into the scrap heap of human history.
