And they were singing bye bye Miss All American Internet Pie…..she posted a press release and someone else’s photos under her editorial byline…before you knew it she was stealing her competitors style designs……manipulating unsuspecting masses with scripted story lines…..
The recent critique(s) leveled on one of the leaders of the Scissors Mafia, Ms. Rachelle Hruska on this blog and in Scallywag & Vagabond, in the words of Michael Corleone in the Godfather, is not personal but is strictly business—– all in the name of media transparency. Rachelle is objectively speaking girl next door pretty, if not downright gorgeous. In fact, this blogger ranked her as one of the Top 10 Hottest Women in New York City in March 2009, although in truth I did not even factor in The Fox News Babes. Combined with a persona that is equally part holly go lightly (I do not want to offend anyone) and Suzanne Stone Maretto (see Nicole Kidman’s Stepford Wife like character in To Die For), persona, she is the perfect vessel, her looks or package being part of the deception.

With all due respect, however, while I do not think Rachelle is idiot savant or unpleasant to have a cocktail with, it is quite evident after a few simple conversations with Rachelle that once you get beyond her fabulous looks she is one of the most intellectually light headed and insincere people you will meet on the social circuit in this town. A conversation with Ms. Hruska is about as controversial as a dialogue with a slice of Wonder Bread. Thus, as I stated in a prior blog post:
Her rise as a media figure is as curious as it is well, odd. That a woman of such average intelligence has “accomplishments” regularly bestowed upon her is clearly an attempt to suggest otherwise. Idiot? No. An insightful independent journalist with fascinating opinions? Hardly. Ambitious and insincere as all hell? Absolutely. One who studies the curious rise of Ms. Hruska can only be left with the impression that she is but a Trojan Horse or prophylactic for the agenda of others.
So you will forgive me and perhaps others who have questioned who and what is behind the rather curious rise of Rachelle Hruska as one of New York’s leading new media entrepreneurs. That it took this long and the CW High Society scandal for more people to recognize her as an empty vessel or Trojan Horse with powerful backers who have scripted/crafted her legend is interesting indeed.
Her legacy was built through convenient alliances and a legend built by Steve Lewis, Lockhart Steele, self style Harvard social networking guru’s, gawkerites and techies who got a little starry eyed looking at an All American piece of ‘PIE’ (ass) and thus helped turn her into some “Wierd Science” project while lifting style points from competitors and employment standards that would make Norma Rae blush. Like WOW (gushing out loud), check out the hot internet babe. She ain’t quite Cindy Margolis but she can shake and bake and they made her, even as the term FRAUD floats about lingering in the air.

You, and others like you, “others” refers to credible journalists, do yourself a dis-service by even mentioning Rachelle Hruska or any other woman’s looks whose jobs do not DIRECTLY correlate to their appearance i.e.-Models, Beauty pageant Contestants, etc.
When the first mention was made of Rachelle Hruska’s looks by Celebrity & Society Journalist Peter Davis, a few years ago it made sense. After all, Mr.Davis is a fashion forward, “go to guy” for all that is hip in New York and is openly gay AND presumably he can pick”em”. When straight credible journalists follow suit and work it into their “supposed rants” against Ms. Hruska’s popularity as a credible journalist it just seems like an attempt to appear strangely “diplomatic.” The truth is, it doesn’t matter if she is HOT or BUTT-ugly!
Apparently, what I once thought was a slight against others of us who head up popular nightlife or celeb or society blogs I now feel is a FACT–we are all being SLIGHTED. Where are the passing comments on Bryce Gruber’s looks? The beautiful dark haired CEO of theluxuryspot.com who is a year or so younger than Ms. Hruska and of Jewish descent? Her blog is doing just fine(popularity wise) and she is equally if not MORE um….”down right gorgeous”.
I think you male Editors and Publishers of the “serious journalist” variety need to CHILL on comments about female colleague’s (yes colleagues)physical appearance. Why? It’s just un-needed fodder that you cannot wiggle your way out of once it has been out there and onto the internet.
Additionally, the title of Rachelle Hruska as “One of New York’s leading New Media Entrepreneurs” is deceptive, not because it is NOT true but because it is an open-ended title (editor: it was actually created by her in her own Wikipedia entry without mentioning her co-founders and financiers, the Winkelvii). Your interpretation of it is equally as deceptive in that you both build her up & tear her down all in one fell swoop. She founded a blog nearly 3 years ago, she has no “legacy”–YET! The tear down would be all else that follows your initial assertion.
If Rachelle Hruska or any of her team are indeed trying to de-index your words from Google or to remove them from Facebook can you blame them?
PS-Hit off the Jewish CEO blogger chics and the African American Publisher blogger chick (wink- wink) and allow Ms. Hruska breathe a sigh of relief that she is not ALSO packing 34 Ds!

I read the blog rather quickly I have to research her a little bit more…I question the response beneathe your blog…Can we as women seriously be miffed that the journalists note her beauty when they feel she has no talent?? Is it not a valid point when serious writers and readers wonder if they had the gift of hot feminine lure would they be as successful with mindless chatter and stolen genius..Really, are we going to cry injustice when people question what our significance is if we don’t have talent to support our crown? As a woman I am thankful that I am, humbly speaking, attractive, but when I want to be respected for more than my body, I showcase my intelligence so that when others question ’substance’, beauty takes a backseat, even if it got me the first glance…a benefit I know Mr London would never begrudge a woman.In fact, he always commends women for having the compassion, strength, intelligence and courage to be strikingly beautiful from core to facade. Mr London, if you know him, if you have read his work, will always appreciate the element of outter beauty but nobely so, he expects more than just a pretty face, PR and a fan base to consider someone an esteemed journalist. It might do us women good to know some people might actually be interested in hearing what we have to say. Imagine that! I do appreciate the desire to have looks not mentioned when analyzing women’s work but, isn’t it true that we would wonder no less a man’s wallet if he was coined as a journalist, praised by women but he clearly had no substance? Let’s just say some people do get ahead on their assets alone, and smart women like Paris Hilton build an empire on pinpointing that open door and playing her cards well. And men, the list of them that have acheived even political stature from heavily filledd pockets, thats a discussion for another time…it’s the way of the world…ever so sweet injustices. ( I have no opinion on Rachelle’s work as I am not yet familiar so my point is based solely on the issue of beauty, brain or busted)

It should be noted that nobody is as good as their best press or as bad as their worst. But we live in a society were questioning anyone’s mojo or their PR Spin is viewed as some form of hate speech. The worst things I ever have to say about anyone are generally up front, straight forward and in the public eye. I think it is important that we as a people question all our sources of information and ask whether they are being upfront with their agenda. Many craft a legend and then guard it so closely without recognizing that their myth is not believable with even a cursory glance and that in essence is my issue of the Winklevii backed Rachelle Hruska. And in terms of Bryce Gruber, she is more than credible and legitimate at what she does and the reason why I have not commented on her, her appearance etc. is what am I to write? That she not only founded a quite useful resource at the LuxurySpot.com, but that she has model or bombshell looks and also seems to be somewhat of a Jet setting super mom. While it all seems actually quite true, were I to do that it is hardly newsworthy. And truth is that men of a certain inclination and taste have a far greater appreciation for women of Bryce Gruber’s caliber. All I can say is that Gruber is hardly in need of Vagazzling, as I suspect it is otherwise fine ‘Completely Bare’.
